Opposing the new contempt of court law passed by the National Assembly, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan has said that the nation has been divided through the legislation. Addressing a press conference flanked by Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Hamid Khan on Tuesday, the PTI chief said that the new bill was in violation of the holy Quran and the Hadith, adding that the new bill was amid at protecting new Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf. He said that the government wanted to provide cover to its members so that they could plunder the national wealth and use it in the next general election. The government wanted that its ministers kept looting the country and the court couldn’t touch them, he added. He said that the government would make noise on the pretext of democracy being in jeopardize if the court took action against their corruption. Khan said that he wanted to tell that the court must strike down what he said discriminative law of contempt of court. The PTI chief also criticized coalition partners of the government saying, they provided cover to the looters. To a question, Khan said that he would decide future course of action after consultation with the party. He hailed appointment of Fakhruddin G Ebrahim as Election Commissioner.
